February studio update

Updated: Jun 5, 2022

This month, I've been working on a few different projects. From commission paintings to planning future collections, it's all go at Jessica Slack Studio!

Commission Paintings

I've been a busy bee working away on a few commission paintings over the past few weeks. I love working to a brief as it's always a fun challenge translating a client's vision into a painting that they love!

The piece to the left is inspired by vibrant florals and plants; building up the various layers with different media (from acrylics to oil pastels, charcoal and pencils) to create an exotic and dynamic feel to the painting.

Making Time for Play

Making time to have fun as an artist is SO important! It allows you time to breathe, and regain inspiration for future paintings and collections. I've been experimenting with lots of new tools this month; from squeegees to palette knives, sponges and even haik brushes.

I'll be documenting all of the different tools I've been using and the various marks I've created with them in more detail in my next blog post so keep an eye out!

New Collection Planning

If you follow me on Instagram you may have seen some of the incredible suggestions of inspiration for the new collection!

From poetry to favourite books, nature, the beach and even friendship, you guys suggested some incredible ideas and I can't wait to delve into some of them further as I develop a new series of artwork!
